FPGA Design & Verification Engineer
Job Description:
Our client is looking for a signal processing-focused FPGA Design & Verification Engineer to support the development of tactical communication products. You'll work in a cross-functional team environment designing, verifying, and testing modem/signal processing FPGA firmware for radio communication systems. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong RTL development skills in VHDL and verification experience in SystemVerilog.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze system requirements and architect FPGA-based processing solutions
- Implement complex modem and DSP circuits in programmable logic using FPGA devices
- Code firmware designs in VHDL and develop self-checking test benches in SystemVerilog
- Architect, implement, and verify complex algorithms in FPGAs and software
- Develop and maintain FPGA verification and test plans aligned with system requirements
- Perform requirements analysis, trade studies, conceptual design, and test activities
- Integrate FPGA firmware on hardware and support validation activities
- Prepare and present design reviews and technical briefings to internal and external stakeholders
- Work cross-functionally to define and refine design requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree + 7 years of FPGA development experience; Master's + 9 years; or 13 years without a degree
- Experience developing and verifying FPGA/ASIC-based embedded systems
- Proficiency in VHDL or Verilog for FPGA/ASIC development
- Experience with SystemVerilog for verification
- Hands-on experience integrating FPGA firmware on hardware
- Experience with FPGA vendor tools (Vivado, Quartus, or Libero)
- Linux-based development environment experience
- Eligible to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MATLAB, Simulink, or similar DSP modeling tools
- Communication system signal processing theory and waveform design
- TCL or Python scripting
- MODEM RF design implementation and testing
- Universal Verification Methodology (UVM)
- Vendor-specific FPGA verification tools (Mentor Questa, Visualizer)
- Active US Government security clearance
- SCM tools: SVN, GIT/Bitbucket
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
